There was an ad for the novel "All Souls" displayed in the train. I've never seen an ad for a novel on the train before and it made me happy to see that books aren't dying out. There was a quote from a Boston newspaper, I can't remember it directly but it ended with "Boston's Irish Ghetto." That made me laugh. I received this novel for free in my freshman or sophomore year of high school, since my high school was located in Southie and the majority of students there were residents of Southie. I'm from Dorchester (right on the Southie border), there's a slight rivalry between the two neighborhoods. Anyways, last year I was able to meet the author, Michael Patrick MacDonald, at a book signing at Suffolk. I technically wasn't supposed to be there since it was for students in SU101 but I managed to sneak in anyways. I handed him that old copy of the book I received in high school and he looked at me and asked where I was from. I said "Dorchester" and he said "I thought so." Just by looking at me he could tell I was from around the same area as him. I think it's because I am told I look very Irish. Didn't mean to write so much on this topic.
On the train going to work:
I saw a grown man reading a Twilight book. Aaah.

"What Should Have Been an Embarrassing Moment"
I'm used to having this boy named Matt being in a few of my classes (we took Philosophy, Psychology and an English together) and it's weird that he's not in any of them this semester. I left a comment on his facebook regarding this subject. I spotted him yesterday walking out of the library and I said hello, how are you, etc etc. Today as I was on the staircase in Donahue I bumped into him again, or so I thought. I said "Hello again!" and he looked at me with a confused smile and asked, "Have I met you before?" I was sort of in a rush to get to work but that statement made me stop, turn around and ask "Wait, are you not Matt?" and he said "No..." and I said, "Whoa! you look just like my friend Matt, sorry! Hello anyways!" He laughed, said hello and we went our separate ways. Normally one would feel embarrassed in a situation like this but I think in this case he looked so eerily like my friend that it just seems natural for me to think that it was really him. They had the same hair, the same glasses, hat, height, face, clothes... now I'm wondering if the guy I said hello to yesterday outside of the library was the real Matt or not. I need to watch out for this Matt clone...
