German/Germany

Since I'll be in Germany for a few hours on Tuesday, I'm going to try and find a practical way to use my favorite German phrase... or at least, my favorite at the moment...

German: "WO IST DAS EIS?"
pronounced: VO IST DAS ICE?

English: Where is the ice cream?

I'm sure there will be ice cream somewhere in the airport, haha!

My official German classes will start in June :)

In other international news, my sister has made it to Istanbul, Turkey. She left Boston last night.

Best Way to Start a Novel

"What about a teakettle? What if the spout opened and closed when the steam came out, so it would become a mouth, and it could whistle pretty melodies, or do Shakespeare, or just crack up with me?" - Jonathan Safran Foer.

It's like seeing myself on a page. I love it.

I love it!

I'm watching Arthur... yes the cartoon... and the episode was about poetry. At the end of the episode, they focused on a real school with real children, and the children wrote/published their own poems. One little boy said this: "When someone is sad, and you write a happy poem, it will make them feel better" Adorable, and so true!

Twitter, Part 2

I've had a twitter now since May 15, 2009, apparently. In honor of this soon to be one year mark, I will post some crazy tweets here. If you want to follow me on twitter, my username is teriaki3. I update it more than I update this, perhaps, I don't know! I still don't really get the point of twitter, but it's fun to look back on. Enjoy.

Tonight, I am sad.

I wish I had more love in my life. I definitely don't get it at home. The only time I hug my parents these days is at the airport, before I fly away from them, and even then it's awkward. Sometimes I feel like it wouldn't matter if I were part of this family or not. I think it's too late for affection. And I can't remember the last time I said "I love you" to anyone, for that matter. My boyfriend and I haven't said it to each other yet, and that's fine with me. To be honest, I'm too scared to say it. In my past relationships, both guys have said it to me. And for what? If they "loved" me, then why did it not work out? I love talking to my boyfriend, and just by the way he looks at me sometimes I know how he feels. I have a great guy, and he makes me all smiley!! (Aww... I HAD to write something cheerful!! Now I'm smiling just thinking of him). It's just too bad he's so far away! I want, and need, an Andre hug!!! [23 days!]

But really, don't use "I love you" too generously. Perhaps I'm old fashioned, for I believe in its specialness. Nothing bothers me more than when I see a couple who have just started dating say this to each other. Eh, I can say more about this but I don't feel like it. On average, the only time I do feel love during the day is at work. Whenever a kid hugs me, or tells me I'm their best friend, or if one tells me that they've missed me... it just makes me feel worth it, and I don't think the kids understand how much it means to me.

I'm sorry if this makes no sense, it's hard to think, and type, when you're crying.

Monday morning...

While eating a bagel on skype earlier, I was trying to describe the difference between a bagel and a donut to my boyfriend (he's Swiss, leave him alone!), and I accidently flung my bagel, and it bounced off my computer screen. Fail!!

TODAY IS MONDAY. Bookmaking day at work! My favorite class!! :D

Duet

Any pianist want to learn a duet with me?

I've always wanted to learn this certain song, but the people I know who can play some piano aren't ready for it...

Or else, I'll just wait until my boyfriend visits me here. He's like... a professional. So much better than moi. Finally, I have a boyfriend with musical talent!! Plus, it would be cute! :D

Plath

Last night, I got into a rare conversation with my parents about poetry, and they've never heard of Sylvia Plath! I've never met anyone who didn't know her work, and it's especially mind-boggling because she was alive during their lifetime. I was a bit blown away, but told them, honestly, you're lucky you've never read any of her poems! (Eh... yes, I admit to despising her work. Probably the only American poet I can't stand!)

Terezín

I heard the most amazing story today - a Holocaust survivor spoke to us. What a man, what a story!

I didn't know this until today, but Terezín was originally called Theresienstadt, named after Empress Maria Theresa. Weird to discover how a former ghetto shared the same name as moi (although, not quite, since I do not spell my name with an "h," but the Czech translation is similar to Teresa).

I will be visiting Terezín in under 3 weeks.

I Love Google

Must make these!

Really, I have no idea.

What not to do while procrastinating, or perhaps this is an example of how insane a college student can become during finals week. Needless to say, my stomach makes a good drum. Another instrument??

Ballade: Procrastination.

I tend to do productive things as I procrastinate. I haven't played in a while, so I had the urge to bust out Ballade. The only problem is, my keyboard is way too small, and I have no pedals, either, so it's really not as epic as it should sound.

This is actually the song I played during my last ever Berklee College of Music recital. I, as a solo artist, was the first to perform. While performing in front of large crowds (sometimes up to 100 people or so!), my trick was to walk onto the stage and stare right at the piano instead of the people. It worked every time!

I recommend others to play an instrument while procrastinating, it's a great stress reliever!

Joy! And Relationships!

1 month until Andre visits me in Krakow, Poland! :)

I feel like my blog has turned into some kind of weird countdown. I bet people would be annoyed if I continuously say this in real life, so my blog is my excitement outlet! My advice to others in relationships: don't spend everyday with your boyfriend/girlfriend. Only bad things will result. Sometimes I'm happy I'm in a long distance relationship because when I see the dysfunctional relationships that surround me... I can only predict that things won't end well for them. I'm guilty of doing it myself, as well, in past relationships, and this Wednesday marks the one year "anniversary" of our break up. haha!

And if you do spend everyday or even live with your boyfriend/girlfriend, ENJOY IT. Respect them, and have fun. You don't know how jealous I am of people I know who are basically attached to their boyfriend/girlfriend, and I'm jealous just because they CAN BE in their loved one's presence. Although, I wouldn't want to be attached to my boyfriend, I just wish we could spend more time together. We've been dating since August, and we've only spent about 6 weeks together in person. The time that we DO spend together is amazing and memorable, and I just hope others around me realize this with their "chosen" ones.

Whoa! A serious blog update!

In other news, I have a science final today, work, and paper writing to do later on.
I'm going to refrain myself from updating my blog so much this week so I can get things done.

Springfoooden

I wish I had a water fountain spout built into the floor of my bedroom. One of those little spouts that turn on when you press a button, like the ones in Columbus Park, or on the Greenway. Except I only want one, not hundreds. Cute and refreshing!

(ps- the title is a phonetic reference to "water fountain" in German)

Sunday

1) One month away from Poland.
2) One month and a day from seeing my wonderful boyfriend for the first time in 5 months.
3) It's hot hot hot out today! I want to go to the beach!
4) I took a shower, and so far so good. I'm not afraid of the water, Boston!
5) It's been about 3 days since I last drank tea. Unheard of!
6) Suffolk doesn't give out May T passes, so I probably won't take the train as much.
7) Anyone want to go to the Arboretum next weekend, for the lilacs? :D
8) I hope my Swiss chocolate stash does not melt in today's heat.
9) I should really start my final papers, but I'm not too worried/stressed about this week.
10) I wish I had a mini ocean in my room.

morning, my room.

pretty to wake up to, even though my flowers are dying.

sound

A portion of "Victor's Piano Solo." My keyboard frustrates me very much, for it is far too small.
I wish I could pick up my piano and plant it in my room, and not have to worry about missing octaves...

And now, I shall sleep.

1 MORE MONTH

1 MONTH UNTIL I TURN 21 IN PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC!!

Nice Job USPS!

My package reached Switzerland in record time! My boyfriend received his birthday present a week early, and he opened it! tsk tsk, Andre, ;)

but yes, I'm happy it got there, and I'm happy he liked it!!

Spring in Boston

After our chocolate picnic, I wandered away from my friends to walk in the Public Gardens by myself. (Nobody wanted to accompany me). It was a nice walk, and I saw some beautiful flowers, such as the ones above!!
